We are as proud of the people in our team as we are of our lovely products and one cannot happen without the other. Every week we are going to meet someone from Powell Craft – either from our office in fabulous Brighton or our headquarters in picturesque Cornwall where all our orders are sent from. There are tons of us beavering away behind the scenes – whether designing products, packing and dispatching, taking deliveries into the warehouse, working on the website and social media platforms, making sure the admin is all up to date or filling our sachets with beautifully scented lavender – there’s lots going on. We've asked the team what their role involves, the Powell Craft products they recommend, what they like to do in their spare time, their ideal holiday destinations and favourite books and films. We've also managed to persuade them to share a photo of themselves when they were little - so cute!

The lovely Wendy kicked started our feature last week and this week we have the man himself, Mr Toby Powell.

Toby Powell is the managing director of Powell Craft. He chose exhibiting at the annual trade show in Harrogate as a highlight of his job – he has been attending it since he was 6 years old when his father William was at the helm of the company which at that time sold wooden toys. Harrogate is doubly significant to Toby because he met his wife, Kate, there. Based in Brighton, Toby loves the beach and rambles on the Sussex Downs.

Quick questions:

Holiday destination: Rio de Janeiro or Rome and always partial to a ruin!

Favourite book or film: The Man Who Would Be King is Toby’s favourite film and he recommends Bill Bryson’s Neither Here nor There: Travels in Europe as an ideal holiday read.

Powell Craft products: Toby loves the men’s pyjamas in the vintage plane print and has some of the beautiful Indian floral quilts at home.
